“What I’ve done for the GREAT Academy makes me feel like almost a mom of the department. Assisting in video productions, I’ve worked on multiple projects. From Calico to SkillsUsa videos. They help me learn how to budget due dates and stay consistent with a production schedule. In Drama, I am a stage manager for shows, giving me high responsibilities over many departments and real life teamwork skills. In Theatre Production, I control the lighting and sound aspects of the show, making me responsible for making sure equipment is properly maintained and fixed along with staying honest to the director when something is wrong or does not work according to plan. With GREAT giving me a steady foundation, I feel ready to go into the real world confidently with the knowledge and experience given to me.”
“The GREAT academy has been the best thing to happen to Granite Hills. Personally, I have advanced so much musically. I have never found anything I have cared about so much except for music. I think the GREAT Academy has been the best opportunity I have ever received to pursue my passion. I’ve been thrilled to be given so many opportunities, and I have never been this involved with music, or even this excited to be making it. The feeling of exuberance and adventure I have when I am able to make music has been the most liberating feeling I’ve ever felt. I play about 10 instruments now, am section leader for clarinets, am a member of Chamber Choir, am actively in the SBCMEA Honor Band, and currently write music. I have also been drum major, recorded music in the studio, and performed in a small rock band, I am proud of my school, because it has allowed me to do what I love.”
“My experience with the G.R.E.A.T Academy has been amazing. Being a part of the Academy It has helped me with my social and communication skills and helped me experience new things. I take part in multiple activities like Band, Piano, Culinary Arts, and SkillsUSA, at Granite Hills High School. I am so thankful for being part of such a wonderful group of individuals which I can call my friends and family. Before the GREAT Academy, I sat at home all day on my phone with no friends and now with the GREAT Academy I participate in parades, competitions, football games, and many more activities on campus and off campus. The GREAT Academy is a chance for opportunities and a start for your future and I am happy to say I am apart of the GREAT Academy.”
