What is Virtual Band Camp (VBC)
Virtual Band Camp (VBC) is a chance for ANY AVUSD music student to get assistance in music. We will work with you at whatever level you are at and help you get proficient on your instrument. Afraid of theory, sight-reading, posture…oh my! Don’t worry. We are here to make music make sense. In addition, and perhaps one of the most important…you. Will. HAVE! FUN!!! Please watch the video above about our amazing students who, in addition to being amazing, regularly take home top honors at competitions. We will, for the foreseeable future, be modifying our season for the fall but many new fun and exciting adventure await. VBC will allow you to interact with fellow music lovers and get better on your instrument. I will be releasing a Google Classroom code with planed Google Meets. I hope to see all of you who are music lovers. Please tell everyone and share with any music lovers this wonderful, free and exciting offer!

Update for Band students and Color Guard
I hope you are excited about tomorrow and the ability to connect with each other virtually. I know that this will be difficult for some but I ask you to try your best. I know that you will make your best effort. This will be a chance for us to get to know each other and to begin to practice songs together. Tomorrow at 8:00 AM we will have our first Google Meet. Please make sure to arrive a bit earlier than that to get the code for Classroom and Meet and be ready to log in. I will be going over the basics of how this class will run. Understand that we will not be able to get together until there is more directions from the state. I will not address anything related to next year as no one is sure what will take place next semester. We are all at the mercy of the virus. But we can use this time to sharpen our skills and plan on music for next semester. For many of you, I hope that you will be able to connect with new students and use this time to make friendships which will last longer than this short time away from school. Get to know each other. Bond through your love of music and make friends that will last a lifetime.
For those of you that are new to the program, we will use something called a practice log. It is to keep you honest as to the drilling and practicing that is REQUIRED for the marching band. Even though we can not do the exercises together, we can still do them at home. I will include videos that you can use at home. Make sure to monitor your progress and use the practice logs. I will also ask you to record yourself playing your scales, practicing your dances, and small selections to showcase your musical or dance chops. Eventually, we will put together a video with all of our recordings and I will mix and produce a video showcase.
Also if you are not going to attend Granite this year but would like help in music, don’t be shy. It does not matter the grade or instrument. If you would like help with your instrument or understanding music. Please join us. Tell your friends. We want everyone who can to join our music fellowship.
SO excited for tomorrow. I look forward to meeting you all. Remember tomorrow at 8:00 AM there will be a Google Meet to share info. I hope to see all of you there.
