APPLE VALLEY, CA – The GREAT Academy, an AME/CTE Model Technical Demonstration site for the California Department of Education, is thrilled to welcome Ricardo Morales. One of the most sought-after clarinetists in the world, Morales has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Art Tower Mito in Japan, in the past year! Morales will be working with elementary and high school students during his visit, giving masterclasses and coaching sessions.
Morales has been appointed Principal Clarinet of The Philadelphia Orchestra and has previously played with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra where he was appointed Principal at the age of 21. He has also played clarinet with The Chicago Symphony, The New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and the Kinen Orchestra in Japan. Morales has been giving clarinet master classes for many years and currently serves on the faculties of The Juilliard School, Temple University, and the Curtis Institute of Music.
Morales has released a debut recording, French Portraits, and his recordings with the Pacifica Quartet were nominated for a Latin Grammy Award.
The culmination of Morales’ visit will be a concert on Thursday, March 16th at 6:30 p.m. with the West Coast Clarinet Congress, where Morales will perform as a Soloist.
The visit of Morales has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Apple Valley Unified School District.
